A father of a newborn son has died in a fiery crash while trying to flee from police in Melbourne’s southeast.
The driver was first seen by police at about 3.30am on Sunday on Stud Road in Rowville and officers tried to intercept him.
But the driver sped off and failed to stop and soon officers lost sight of him.
The car was found crashed into a tree and on fire.
John Beiruti was behind the wheel and he died at the scene.
The 43-year-old leaves behind a newborn baby and his partner paid tribute.
‘Our hearts are completely broken.’
“He had a heart of gold and he loved us with every fibre of his being,” Argina Baker said.
“We will miss him so much, right now our hearts are completely broken.”
